Christina Driscoll's first book takes readers inside the strange, frustrating, and often avoidable failures of HOA governance. Drawing from firsthand experience, it explores what happens when transparency disappears, institutional knowledge is lost, and short-term decisions are allowed to shape a community's future.
The book is currently being prepared for independent publication through Amazon KDP.
Expected soonWhy this work matters
The goal isn't to eliminate homeowners associations. It's to make them work better for the people they were created to serve.
Christina is a homeowner advocate, HOA governance educator, author, and former board member focused on transparency, financial responsibility, homeowner participation, and meaningful reform.
Her involvement began from the inside. She served as both a director and president of her 551-home Illinois homeowners association and later worked directly in association operations. That experience gave her a close view of the financial, administrative, and governance challenges faced by homeowners and volunteer boards.
Today, Christina uses The HOA Circus to translate complicated HOA issues into information ordinary homeowners can understand and use. She is also involved in efforts to improve Illinois HOA law, including research into gaps in the Illinois Common Interest Community Association Act and discussions with state legislative offices about greater transparency, accountability, and homeowner protection.

A better association culture
Homeowners should be able to understand how decisions are made, where money goes, and how their association is being governed.
Volunteer service matters. So do education, fiduciary judgment, good records, and a clear understanding of the authority a board has accepted.
Responsible communities plan beyond the next election or annual budget, especially when it comes to reserves and major repairs.
People make better decisions when they understand their rights, their responsibilities, and how to engage before a crisis begins.
